Your friendly, neighbourhood copywriter.
I’m James Shackell. Freelance copywriter. Editor at large. Journalist for hire. I take brands and sharpen them up in exchange for money. I’m pretty good at it.
Fresh copy. Made to order.
Good copywriting matters. It’s the difference between a business and a brand. I write clean, wholesome copy for start-ups, SMEs and faceless corporate entities. Big words available on request.
Hard-hitting political journalism isn’t really my thing. I’ve got bylines scattered across Smith Journal, The New York Times, The Age, AWOL, Urban List, Beat Magazine and The Huffington Post.
There’s a lot of fuzzy pop-branding out there. I don’t use pie charts. I’m not a ‘strategic storyteller’. I take brands, give them a name, and help them find their voice. Like Don Draper, without the cigarettes.
While other kids were out selling lemonade and chasing frogs, I was inside, reading Strunk’s Elements Of Style. Get in touch for copy editing, spell checking and other persnickety jobs.
Meet the clients.
A few brands from my Little Black Book. Check out my recent work over here.
